THE BARN ON BENSON’S POND

The Barn is a hidden gem tucked away on 40+ acres. It is owned and operated by third generation cranberry growers on an active cranberry bog located in South Middleboro, Massachusetts. The Barn is conveniently located five just minutes away from I-495, Rte 58 and 28. Despite being close to major highways, it provides a secluded and exclusive spot for a rustic wedding.

Each season, this location brings a different vibe to the bog. In the late Summer, you’ll see flowers and lush green trees. While in the Fall, the landscape gives way to a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors. Imagine saying your “I do’s” overlooking this natural landscape?! Additionally, depending on your selected wedding date, it may be harvest season. Between September 15th and November 1st, harvest will likely be in process. You and your guests will have an opportunity to see a harvest in action!

The gorgeous setting is reason enough to choose this venue for your event. However, the real star of a rustic wedding here is the newly renovated original 1940’s yellow pine screenhouse. It has an open reception space that allows for up to 150 guests. The high ceilings provide an open-air quality that is hard to replicate in many barn weddings. There are also two separate areas for both the bride and groom. In these spots, they can prepare for their big day or kick back, out of site from guests.

During cocktail hour guests can mingle and nosh on hors d’oeuvres on the grounds overlooking the cranberry bog. Later on, guests can keep warm gathered around a bonfire while making s’mores and toasting the newly married couple.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Cass and Erin. They told me their vision for the Barn started after they celebrated their own marriage in 2016. Cass and Erin had two equally important celebrations. The first was a formal celebration in Pennsylvania on Erin’s family’s dairy farm. The second was a harvest celebration on the bogs with a traditional New England Clam Bake in The Barn. Guest were gushing about how much they loved their wedding, and subsequently, an idea was born. Starting in May of 2018, The Barn will be seasonally available for celebrations from May through November.

Here are some images I took during an open house in 2017 and a session with one of my favorite couples in December.  The Barn has been undergoing renovations to prepare for the 2018 wedding season and debuts its very first wedding this summer.  I can not wait to see it when it is all done and in full swing.  It is going to be amazing!
