All New Englanders know, New Hampshire delivers glorious fall foliage every year. Especially during the first two weeks of October! I couldn’t think of a better place and time of year to capture Kara and John’s rustic fall wedding.
Their wedding took place on a picture-perfect autumn day at Bishop Farm, located in the rolling foothills of the White Mountain region of New Hampshire. Bishop Farms offers a down to earth, natural and outdoorsy feel while still giving an air of sophistication.
When Kara described her and John’s vision for their autumn nuptials, not surprisingly, she knew they wanted a fun, relaxed and warm atmosphere. What they created was an effortlessly stylish celebration that highlighted the raw charm of the rustic venue with an air of refinement. The gorgeous reds and orange of the scenery were balanced against a color palette of soft pinks, cranberry and pops of blue. Above all, Kara and John infused their fun personalities into every thoughtful detail. From the signature drinks to retro wooden games on the tables for guests, they thought of everything. Not to mention the desert table to die for!
The farm has a beautifully restored ceremony barn with impressive chandeliers, reclaimed church pews and floor to ceiling stained glass windows. It certainly provided the warm, intimate setting they were looking for when it came time for their “I do’s”. John’s step-father officiated the ceremony and as the couple read their own vows, they filled their guests with laughter and tears. It was certainly more laughter. I love how much laughter and joy this couple brings and how happy everyone was to be there to celebrate together.
After the ceremony, it was time for portraits. While we were busy working on portraits, the guests headed over to cocktail hour and mingled on the deck while others had fun with some outdoor games. One of the highlights of the day as a photographer, was capturing John and Kara’s carefree, fun-loving nature against a backdrop of fall colors and breathtaking views lit by the glow of the golden hour sun. They were such naturals in front of the camera! They both had so much fun, equally enjoying the moment and each other. That made for some of the most beautiful portraits I’ve ever taken!
After photos, the celebration continued in the farm’s rustic-elegant 1876 reception barn. While it doesn’t happen at every wedding, I love when you really get an understanding of the Bride and Groom after the toasts end. Kara’s sister and John’s brother shared some stories and memories in a touching toast that overall made me feel like I knew them even better. Following the first dance, toasts and parent dances, the night continued with joyous celebration, great music, endless dancing by just about everyone, a bonfire and pizza to go!
Kara and John, your day was basically a dream. Alex and I had so much fun with you, your now one big happy family and all your friends. Thank you for allowing us to be there and to be the ones to capture it! I can’t wait to share my favorites!
~ Enjoy this visual story of your amazing fall wedding day ~
